Earagail Arts Festival - June/July


This festival comprises of an eclectic mix of music, theatre, comedy, visual arts, the spoken word and workshops. Events take place in different venues and areas in Donegal in June and July.

Feile Chnoc Fola - July/August
Feile Chnoc Fola celebrates many aspects of the traditional lifestyle of the people of the Cnoc Fola Gaeltacht. Teach Mhuiris, the thatched house set on the hill over looking Bloody Foreland, is the headquarters of the Feile and forms its backbone.

Mary from Dungloe - July
This festival is an annual event centered around the town of Dungloe. MAny events take place including a fantastic line up of street music, Irish music, dance, culture and traditions, Arts and Crafts and a range of children’s activities on offer. There is also an opportunity to to sample world renowned local seafood at a Guiness & Oysters display.
For those not afraid to splash other activities include a jet ski and watercraft display, skiff racing, kayaking, a charity triathlon and of course the ‘build your own raft’ competition – all of which will be great fun.

Dunfanaghy August Fair - August
Great traditional country fair, sheep dog trials, traditional music, float, parade, treasure hunt and all the fun of the fair day on Bank Holiday Monday.

Samhain International Poetry Festival - October/November
The Samhain International Poetry Festival takes place in Gortahork, Crannog's nearest village. Gort a’Choirce, which acquired its name from its many fields of corn, is situated in northwest Donegal on the N56 road in the shadow of Mount Errigal. It nestles on Killult Bay in the heart of the Donegal Gaeltacht. It's nightlife can be found in the a world famous traditional pub Teach Billie, the a Pizza/Piano Wine Bar & Amharclann Uí Shearcaigh (Theatre O Searcaigh).

Frankie Kennedy Weekend - December
Frankie Kennedy was an exceptional flute player, one of the masters of the instrument. He was born in Belfast in 1955 and became one of Ireland's best known traditional flute players through his work with the band Altan which he managed and founded with his partner Mairáad Ní Mhaonaigh.
'Scoil Gheimhridh Frankie Kennedy' was established in December 1994 following Frankie's untimely death from cancer in September of that year. The school's vision is to continue his huge contribution to Irish traditional music, especially the music and song of Donegal. This event takes place over the New Year in Gaoth Dobhair, Co. Donegal.
